The binocular does not have coated optics, but optical performance is still good and fairly typical of better-made 7X50’s from this time period. This appears to have been done many years ago, probably by the ever-resourceful Finns. For example, its prisms do not fit as securely as they could in the frame, and, as a result, sometime after manufacture small screws were set in the housing, one at each end of each prism, to further secure them (See View 2). The objective caps of this example are marked IT-JOUKOT which is Finnish for anti-aircraft unit (See View 2: The build of the binocular is good but not quite as good as that of a binocular such as the Zeiss (blc) D.F.
It saw some military use by Sweden and Finland, and a small number were also used by the German Kriegsmarine. Notes: The Marluxon was introduced in 1913 and made until probably 1939/40.
